Marco von Orelli 6: Close Ties on Hidden Lanes
Close Ties on Hidden Lanes è bella musica. Nulla da eccepire. Musica complessa che nasce dall'improvvisazione, anche con modi poco eleganti, per approdare ad una dimensione dove le idee di armonia e melodia di von Orelli trovano ugualmente un loro equilibrato spazio. Le sette "suites" (escluso il breve "Prolog") sono a turno caratterizzate da repentini cambi di ritmo ("Marsala's Strandgut," "Poetry"), rallentamenti/accelerazioni ("Narragonia"), tessiture pulsanti ("Urban Ways" e "Sweet Lotus Suite"). Il clarinettista Lukas Roos, il trombonista Lukas Briggen e Marco von Orelli fanno di tutto per preservare una forma di impro-dialogo, nel quale non mancano momenti di paralisi e confusione felicemente risolti. Merito anche dei bravi Kaspar von Grünigen (contrabbasso), Samuel Dühsler (diabolico e funambolico alla batteria) e Michel Wintsch (che si alterna al sintetizzatore e al piano), abili nell'inserirsi/togliersi al momento opportuno.
Suono perfettamente riconoscibile, ruvido e pieno di energia al tempo stesso, idee della musica solide, ampie, dentro le quali tradizione (non mancano riferimenti "alti" a Brahms e Duke Ellington) e impro riescono a trovare felici momenti di sintesi, Marco von Orelli ha dato alle stampe un'ottima prima prova. Da tenere d'occhio le prossime.
