Chad Taylor: Circle Down
La pianista Angelica Sanchez si dimostra una solista magnifica, destinata a fare grandi cose nel jazz di domani. Dietro di lei l'incalzante drumming del leader, per padroneggiare un linguaggio aperto, dove convivono fuoco e delicatezza, relax e dinamismo. Colori impressionistici intervallati a frenetici up-tempo latini sono alcune delle carte vincenti di una formazione superbamente espressiva, nel trasmettere drive, propulsione e fluida improvvisazione con il piglio che hanno solo i grandi musicisti.
Un percorso di grande jazz, dove la versatilità si accompagna alla passione ed alla fantasia, arrivando ad alternare alle serrate scansioni avanguardistiche il Brasile carnascialesco e l'hardbop più infuocato con una intensità espressiva davvero rara.
Un disco che metterà d'accordo tutti: amanti dell'avanguardia e fan dei linguaggi più tradizionali.
A fare la differenza, un superbo trio che ha personalità da vendere, nel proporre solo proprie composizioni originali. Un disco da acquistare ed un gruppo da seguire con attenzione.
