This week's Rotations moves outward and back. It opens with a fifty-year-old Can improvisation newly pulled from the archive, swings through a set of brand-new records by three artists featured this week on TheTonearm.com, then settles into Japan for three records spanning eras, a vintage recorded dialogue, a television-drama score, and psych-rock's Kikagaku Moyo frontman gone solo, timed to a Tonearm piece running Friday on the country's jazz kissa listening bars. It ends in Bali, where a gamelan built to the composer's own tuning grinds up against a piano. An hour that keeps changing rooms without losing the thread.
