Rodrigo Amado si può considerare uno dei principali animatori della scena impro portoghese grazie alla sua multiforme attività divisa tra iniziative editoriali - insieme ai fratelli Pedro e Carlos Costa ha dato vita nel 2001 all'ormai affermata Clean Feed, lasciata nel 2005 per fondare la propria European Echoes - collaborazioni prestigiose - Alex Cline, Bobby Bradford, Paul Dunmall, Paal Nilssen-Love, etc. - progetti musicali - Lisbon Improvisation Players e The Motion Trio. Proprio quest'ultimo è colto dal vivo durante Jazz Ao Centro Festival di Coimbra, Portogallo, con il trombonista Jeb Bishop ospite di lusso.

Burning Live fa fede al titolo presentando tre lunghe improvvisazioni che offrono una musica spesso davvero incendiaria, con i due fiati a sputare fuoco sul groviglio ritmico creato dalla batteria di Gabriel Ferrandini e dal violoncello di Miguel Mira. Ogni tanto da questo magma emergono momenti di decompressione, le trame si allentano, la logica improvvisativa si dipana in maniera più chiara e le voci personali finalmente si apprezzano per le loro peculiarità e per il loro suono. E' il caso della parte iniziale e finale di "Imaginary Caverns" il brano più lungo con i suoi ventisei minuti nei quali i due fiati intavolano una discussione sonora pacata, sostenuta e stimolata dal lavoro infaticabile del violoncello qui finalmente in grande evidenza.

Sono i momenti migliori perché proprio la presa sonora è il punto debole della registrazione e penalizza enormemente la resa del torrenziale flusso sonoro con i due fiati confusi e appiattiti, il violoncello sovrastato e praticamente oscurato, la batteria come indistinto fondale ritmico, dove pelli e metalli suonano alla stessa maniera.
