We start with 21st century music from guitarist Dave Stryker (coming to Southern Louisiana in October; heads up, y'all:), Geri Allen, David Weiss, Zhenya Strigalev and the Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys. It's pianist Bill Evans birthday. Were he alive today, he would be celebrating his 90th. We have him at the Vanguard with his last trio, in a duo with guitarist Jim Hall, and a neglected session with flautist Jeremy Steig. We finish our 50th anniversary of Miles Davis' "Bitches Brew" with the two tracks from the 3rd (and last) day of recording for the session. One is a continuous performance and the other has 19 edits (with no overdubs). Along the way Stan Getz with Jimmy Rowles, Hammond B-3 from Larry Young, and Marty Ehrlich on tenor. Enjoy the ride!

September 50th anniversary Blue Notes next week.

Thanks to our most active listeners of the week in: Strasbourg (France), Kiev (Ukraine), Loberia (Argentina) & Sendai (Japan)
