Roxana Amed: Becoming Human
Registrato nell'ottobre 2023, l'album è prodotto col finanziamento "New Jazz Works" di Chamber Music America, già assegnato a Wayne Shorter, Billy Childs, Brian Lynch e altri.
Il percorso musicale consta di undici brani, quasi tutti scritti dalla cantante, con testi autobiografici e riflessioni sul suo percorso artistico. Uno sviluppo intimo, con le interpretazioni di Roxana adagiate in colloquiali introspezioni o libere esplorazioni vocali che si snodano in stretta relazione col pianoforte.
Un mondo lirico e rarefatto con qualche lucida sperimentazione (il convulso "Wild") che si unisce alla tradizione mainstream nel dinamicamente modale "Then We Build a Home" (con incisivi interventi di Small al sax tenore e Afonso alla batteria). Ancora una prova significati di una vocalist quanto mai personale, lontana dagli schemi tipici dell'universo latino e dai percorsi usuali del jazz vocale contemporaneo.
