Antonio Torrini: Avicenne Jazz Project

Il vulcanico contrabbassista toscano è da tempo attivo sulla scena del jazz nazionale con progetti che vanno dal jazz per big band alla musica pop da cui proviene. Un modo eclettico di relazionarsi alla musica che richiede una solida preparazione. Ed infatti, oltre a confermarsi bravo contrabbassista, Torrini è pure autore di tutte le composizioni e degli arrangiamenti di questo Avicenne Jazz Project, scritti per formazioni che cambiano di continuo rendendo cosí l'ascolto variegato.

Le sue idee armoniche e ritmiche si basano su un jazz di marca europea, com´è tipico per tante formazioni italiane. Il disco si apprezza per il contrabbasso del leader sempre pronto a lanciare delle linee melodiche molto interessanti, per il sax soprano di Laraia che usa un suono molto aperto, lontano da quelle che sono i canoni estetici americani. Senza ovviamente dimenticare l'apporto degli altri, ben gestiti da una scrittura ed una direzione degna di nota. Nelle lunghe esecuzioni tutto funziona come un mosaico perfetto.
