Rino Arbore: Aprés la Nuit

Dalla fertile terra di Puglia arriva l’Art Trio di Rino Arbore, qui al disco d’esordio per i tipi della Dodicilune. Après la nuit risulta in piena sintonia con la filosofia editoriale dell’etichetta: grande cura del suono, musica raffinata che ha come riferimento principale il jazz ma attinge anche da altre espressioni musicali.

Sintomatiche le prime due tracce. “The Same Soul“ ha un’atmosfera intimistica, notturna che in qualche modo rimanda all’estetica ECM (espressione abusata ma sempre utile come riferimento); il sound complessivo è ovattato e l‘ascoltatore viene cullato in una sorta di dimensione onirica. “Free Land“ invece, appare come un bop moderno e frizzante, con la chitarra di Arbore guizzante e dinamica, la sezione ritmica che swinga decisa e la tromba dell’ospite Giovanni Amato brillante e incisiva.

Complessivamente il disco, pur in una eccessiva omogeneità di atmosfera, risulta gradevole, le composizioni possiedono un’indubbia eleganza, la tromba ospite di Amato allarga a dovere lo spettro timbrico del gruppo. Ma qualche graffio qua è la, una sonorità meno levigata, il pedale più pigiato sul versante del rischio avrebbero giovato ad una miglior riuscita del lavoro.
