Jazz in Duet: Al momento giusto

Il primo CD ufficiale del duo chitarristico Jazz in Duet, formato da Stefano Ballerano e Adriano Ghirardo, arriva dopo 15 anni dalla sua nascita, ma il lungo rodaggio ha creato un livello di interplay molto alto, che risulta evidente all'ascolto di questo lavoro, che si tiene a distanza di sicurezza da una delle insidie principali del duo, ovvero la mancanza di equilibrio e di complementarità, che solitamente risulta o nel suonarsi addosso, o nell'eccessiva scolasticità dell'approccio.

Il repertorio comprende alcuni classici standard, con l'immancabile omaggio al Brasile (in questo caso "Retrato em branco e preto") e uno standard moderno come "Question and Answer" di Metheny. Completano l'album un paio di originali firmati dai due chitarristi e uno dal bassista Alberto Micciché. Bellerano e Ghirardo mostrano un fraseggio sciolto ed efficace, che dà il meglio negli standard (il vertice è toccato nella lunga versione di "Autumn Leaves," il cui tema è preceduto da una lunga introduzione, come nell'iniziale "Alone Together"), vera fonte di ispirazione per molti musicisti.

Nel complesso un album ben suonato e godibile pur nella sua prevedibilità.
