Riuscire ad esprimere qualcosa di veramente nuovo e originale con il piano trio risulta impresa titanica viste le numerose e continue trasformazioni subite, nel corso di quasi un secolo, dalla più classica delle formazioni jazzistiche. A meno di non essere dei geni. Il pianista Michel Wintsch, il bassista Christian Weber ed il batterista Christian Wolfarth geni sicuramente non sono, ma possiedono una solida conoscenza musicale, una buona dose di curiosità nel ricercare possibili vie di fuga da sentieri già battuti, ed un affiatamento cementato da un’ assidua frequentazione del catalogo Leo Records.

Il dialogo che intercorre tra i tre musicisti è improntato ad una estrema libertà d’azione, con strategici punti nevralgici nei quali le idee di ciascun musicista sembrano trovare energie aggiuntive per lanciarsi in ulteriori, personali esplorazioni. Si avvertono echi di musica contemporanea, pillole di blues tutt’altro che canonico, meditazioni contemplative con gli strumenti che giocano di sfumature e riverberi appena percettibili.

L’improvvisazione scorre senza soluzione di continuità, a volte con fremente urgenza, a volte con dinamica sobrietà, sempre con vigile attenzione alle forme, nelle quali si privilegia il climax generale piuttosto che un percorso narrativo tradizionale. “Liquid Music“ è il titolo della quinta traccia del CD: ecco se volessimo etichettare in qualche modo questa musica la potremmo definire così, materica e inafferrabile allo stesso tempo, densa e viscosa come certi liquidi, leggera trasparente come la miglior acqua di montagna.
