Fabio Marziali Quartet: Voyage Waltz
Sia il valzer della title-track che apre il disco, che il brano modale che lo segue, stanno a testimoniare sin dall'inizio gli ampi orizzonti espressivi di questo quartetto, e la loro capacità di spaziare su terreni diversi sapendoli amalgamare all'interno delle dinamiche di un gruppo piuttosto omogeneo.
L'esplorazione continua attraverso blues, ballad, standard di Cole Porter con venature latine, il tutto con una modernità di intenti sostenuta da una notevole preparazione tecnica da parte della ritmica. A chiudere il disco due lunghi brani di Alberto Napolioni, pianista che ha già accompagnato il leader in altri contesti.
Il disco nel complesso si fa ascoltare come una bella unità compatta, piuttosto effervescente, senza accenni di noia. Molto pimpante nelle esecuzioni, fantasioso abbastanza per porsi all'attenzione nazionale.
