Atsuko Hashimoto: Until the Sun Comes Up
L'Hammond B3 della leader, oltre ad avvolgere l'intera tracklist in quell'alone di fascino e impregnarla di quei sapori che per brevità definiremo vintage, caratterizza in maniera determinante il mood complessivo di Until the Sun Comes Up. Un album - suonato in maniera deliziosa dal trio - fermo nel ribadire l'efficacia dell'alternanza melodica tra chitarra e organo, che segna tra gli altri il brano di apertura "All or Nothing at All," giocato su un piacevole tempo fast, nella quale Dechter mostra un approccio strumentale carico di tecnica ed espressività, confermati anche negli atteggiamenti bluesy di "Soul Station," e in ambientazioni più ragionate e pensierose.
Hashimoto - che firma praticamente tutti gli arrangiamenti dei brani in programma - si conserva molte situazioni rilevanti, vedi l'apertura di "So in Love," ma anche la splendida esecuzione del tema di "Moon River" e quello altrettanto penetrante di "What a Wonderful World," risultando anche in questo episodio una musicista perfettamente in grado di tradurre in musica un pensiero intelligente e mai versato alle situazioni semplicistiche.
