Felipe Salles: Ugandan Suite
Domina una piuttosto insistita, ferrea coralità, in cui sembra anzi dimorare l'essenza stessa di una musica epica e solenne, ritualistica, pulsante e scopertamente -programmaticamente -afro, benché non manchino ovviamente le sortite solistiche (dei due sax ma non solo), le fasi più decongestionate, ondivaghe, per quanto pur sempre su temperature medio-alte (ma non per questo torride o convulse).
In un'opera certamente molto coesa, per climi e valori intrinseci, i movimenti che più convincono sono il secondo, in cui si stempera (si emancipa) più che altrove una data tribalità (senza dimenticare un notevole solo sopranistico di Liebman), il quarto, in cui un prologo quasi dissonante sfocia in una felice alternanza di umori, e l'ultimo, specie per il bell'intersecarsi tra i fiati.
