Carsten Lindholm: Tribute
Una sintesi che porta risultati concreti già nell'opener "3D," brano caratterizzato da atmosfere prossime all'house music, e anche in "Dub3," passaggio nel quale la tromba di Rene Damsbak sviluppa melodie avvolgenti su un andamento ritmico pulsante e molto presente. Questo è un segno distintivo che pervade l'intero album, nel quale affiora anche una forte componente nordica, intesa come suoni rarefatti, accenni timbricamente glaciali, composti di poche note staccate e chiaroscurali. Il riferimento è - in particolar modo - rivolto alla chitarra di Eivind Aarset, presente in quattro degli undici passaggi.
Malgrado alle sedute di registrazione abbiano partecipato musicisti diversi, il lavoro si mantiene su un'omogeneità evidente, che alla lunga coinvolge grazie anche a brani giocati su andamenti sostenuti, che lambiscono situazioni di ballabilità. Questo grazie alla buona capacità del leader di saper legare l'insieme in maniera omogenea, senza eccedere mai troppo nel dosaggio timbrico
In fondo alla scaletta prodotta da Lindholm troviamo il tributo speciale a suo padre "H.L.H.," nel quale possiamo ascoltare un modo più introspettivo di procedere, con una melodia lenta, capace di emozionare e lasciare un ricordo positivo di questo lavoro.
