Luigi Bonafede Quintet: To Advance
I partner sono puntuali e misurati, chiamati ad infondere ai brani una melodia cantabile, con tocco strumentale luminoso e netto. Bonafede si diverte ad alternarsi tra pianoforte e batteria, lasciando sovente spazio a Massimo Baldioli al sax e clarinetto ed Andrea Allione alla chitarra.
Ma il progetto non decolla, a partire dalla commistione tra jazz e retaggio folcrorico suggerito dal brano d'apertura. Ed alla lunga i toni un po' troppo ripetitivi risultano svenevoli, anche se contrassegnati da brillanti esecuzioni ed ottimi interventi solistici.
Da Bonafede ci si attende più di un disco godibile ma un poco routiniero come questo. Da segnalare Andrea Allione, dal fraseggio personale e comunicativo e con un drive intenso. Per il resto, la musica scorre piacevole, con qualche squarcio di intensità poetica ("Andra," "Request")
