L'album risulta quindi sviluppato lungo due direttrici ben definite, marcate dall'utilizzo dell'uno, piuttosto che dell'altro, strumento. Il trio jazz dalle strutture aperte (quando si hanno come compagni di strada Peacock e Motian, la struttura è aperta per definizione), e l'incedere arabo, articolato e dalle fitte melodie. Sempre di ottimo livello. E però ...
Queste due direttrici procedono parallele. Non convergono e non si incrociano mai. Sarebbe stato interessante, ad esempio, ascoltare una struttura ed una melodia araba eseguite con la chitarra. Oppure, viceversa, uno schema jazzistico eseguito con l'oud. Ma questo non avviene. Il Dr. Jeckyll e Mr. Hide non coesistono, mantengono le distanze. Si manifestano in brani diversi.
Alla fine, si ha quasi l'impressione di aver ascoltato, alternandole, tracce provenienti da due diversi (sia pure ottimi) CD.
