Nicole ha pubblicato da poco Aquarius, prima incisione (per la Delmark) col nuovo quartetto Ice Crystal comprendente tre chicagoani: il formidabile vibrafonista Jason Adasiewicz, il contrabbassista Joshua Abrams e il batterista Frank Rosaly.
In pochi anni Adasiewicz ha dimostrato d'essere uno dei migliori vibrafonisti della scena contemporanea (vedi la bella intervista di Luca Canini) con qualche disco da leader e collaborando con gli organici più creativi di Chicago.
Aquarius è splendido e in qualche momento (ad esempio "Aqua Blue") ricorda davvero Out To Lunch. Una musica intensa e variopinta che tocca momenti timbricamente radiosi, altri swinganti oppure si aggroviglia in intense relazioni improvvisate. La relazione tra flauto e vibrafono ricorda immediatamente quella mitica tra Eric Dolphy e Bobby Hutcherson in Out to Lunch anche se i percorsi sono ovviamente diversi. Lo stile percussivo dal risonante vibrato di Adasiewicz si fonde con il sound cristallino e avvolgente della flautista, con risultati suggestivi.
