As well as performing in a number of one off improvising or contemporary music situations he regularly performs in his long standing string trio Arc (with Sylvia Hallett and Danny Kingshill); The Static Memories, an electronic duo with Dan Powell (on laptop and processed percussion and guitar) , a trio with Ron Caines and James Parsons and the New Interpretations Orchestra. He also creates structured improvisational compositions including The Star Field, The Sleepwalkers (featuring 10 of the leading improvising string players in the UK) and Collective Stories (a commission in Quebec with Grand Groupe Régional d’Improvisation Libérée). With his distinct touch, smooth sound and innovative sensibility he travels the vast tradition of rhythm-fueled bass playing, skillfully referencing his predecessors while exploring new musical territory. Chambers masterfully breaks the conventionally accepted boundaries of his instrument and forges new melodic possibilities. Bertram Turetzky

Bertram Turetzky (b. February 14, 1933) is a contemporary American double bass soloist, teacher, and author of The Contemporary Contrabass (1974, 1989), a book that looked at a number of new and interesting ways of playing the double bass including featuring it as a solo performance vehicle with no other instrumental accompaniment. Turetzky has performed and recorded more than 300 pieces written by and for him. He is a composer whose music has achieved some prominence, as have his interpretations of early music and composers like Domenico Dragonetti. Jasper Høiby

Danish double bassist, composer, and bandleader Jasper Høiby has established himself as one of the most dynamic and expressive forces in modern European jazz. Born in Copenhagen on May 10, 1977, Høiby was drawn to rhythm early in life, listening to hip-hop as a pre-teen before picking up the bass at age fourteen. After laying his musical foundations in Denmark, he moved to the United Kingdom in 2000 to attend London's Royal Academy of Music. During his studies, he immersed himself in the city's fertile jazz scene and became an active member of the influential, artist-led Loop Collective, forging connections that would shape his artistic path for decades to come.

Born: February 9, 1973

In 2005 Josh packed up his car and drove from Massachusetts to Eugene Oregon to pursue a graduate degree and work as a teaching fellow at the University of Oregon. While in Eugene Josh had the great fortune to work with wide range of outstanding local and visiting musicians and to perform on several occasions with the Eugene Symphony Orchestra. Josh graduated in 2008 with a degree in Jazz Performance and moved to California in 2009 where he is now the director of Instrumental Music at the Head-Royce School in Oakland directing several jazz and classical ensembles and teaching AP music theory.
