Magic Malik: Short Cuts
In questo nuovo lavoro, il primo in quartetto, ma con partner già presenti nel precedente Saoule, Malik privilegia sviluppi musicali più semplici e lineari, con lunghi interventi di flauto, voce e tastiere synth sostenute da una base ritmica iterativa. In molti brani i confini tra ambient, world music, etno jazz e rock sono inesistenti e chi ha familiarità con questi generi non si attenda novità di rilievo. Chi cerca soluzioni jazzisticamente più orientate troverà soddisfazione solo in qualche brano ("Sapapaw" è tra questi).
La musica resta comunque accattivante e va accettata nella sua multiformità senza pretendere d'ingabbiarla nelle nostre categorie musicali "a priori".
