Tony Allen: Secret Agent
L'ultimo, registrato a Lagos e che sancisce il debutto per la World Circuit, si chiama Secret Agent e coinvolge musicisti e ospiti di diversa provenienza, ma le parti vocali vengono affidate a artisti nigeriani come Ayo, l'ottimo King Odudu, Switch, Kefeo Obareki o Wura Samba, oltre che allo stesso Allen nella title-track d'apertura e nella conclusiva "Elewon Po".
Come sempre ai ritmi irresistibili dell'Afrobeat sono associati testi di differente intensità, a volte politici, altre volte di matrice tradizionale, altre ancora più direttamente esortativi alla danza e alla musica, ma l'esito è sempre di grande consapevolezza espressiva, con le chitarre [del camerunense Claude Dibongue] e le tastiere a punteggiare gli accenti e i fiati a disegnare le curve su cui rotolare il canto.
