Samara Joy At Healdsburg Jazz Festival 2023
Samara Joy, the 2023 Grammy Award Winner for Best New Artist & Best Jazz Vocal Artist, highlighted HJF 's Father's Day Celebration. This opportunity to hear and see the young singer was worth the drive up from the San Francisco Bay Area. Samara Joy's stand out performance was set against the enticing backdrop of the Bacchus Landing Cellars, on a sun drenched Sonoma County evening. Vocalist Joy was supported by solid musicians: Evan Sherman-drums; Michael Migliore-bass; Cameron Campbell-piano; David Mason-alto saxophone; Jason Charos-trumpet; Kendrick McAlister-tenor saxophone; and Donovan Austin-trombone. Joy serenaded an engaging audience in this full capacity setting.
Before her melodic California Wine Country session ended, Joy and her band received several standing ovations. The lovely music and leisurely drive home made for a fine way to close out the Father's Day weekend.
