Victoria Kirilova: Roots & Skies

La giovane contrabbassista (e qua e là cantante) Victoria Kirilova, ormai viennese d'adozione, ci propone questo gradevolissimo CD alla testa di un quartetto in cui ognuno fa la sua parte con estrema discrezione e, nel contempo, convinzione, senza la pretesa di inventare nulla di nuovo ma con assoluta proprietà di linguaggio lungo sette brani (tutti della leader, incisione del giugno 2024) in cui si fa particolarmente apprezzare la chiarezza di dizione e la lucidità di eloquio del clarinettista (anche basso) spagnolo Oscar Antoli, lui pure attivo nella capitale austriaca.

Ognuno, del resto, lo abbiamo detto, porta il proprio contributo alla buona riuscita dell'album, tutto giocato nel segno di una cantabilità esplicita, nitida, di un tematismo prevalente, sempre pronto ad accogliere lo spunto del singolo ma alla fine richiamandolo a sé, senza frizioni di sorta, anzi con un'estrema armonia, un rigore, totalmente privi di sbavature.

Non un disco destinato ad aprire nuove porte, lo abbiamo detto chiaramente, ma comunque pieno di buon gusto e nessuna spocchia (quella con cui talora anche chi non inventa proprio nulla ritiene di poter "incartare" la sua musica). Con un po' più di esperienza, siamo convinti che i risultati per la musicista austro-bulgara (di cui questo rappresenta del resto il primo album interamente a suo nome) potranno in futuro essere ancora più sostanziosi.
