Richard Galliano: Paris Concert - Live at the Théâtre du Châtelet
E dire che lo stesso musicista italo-francesce non ama proprio registrare dischi (che ormai non si vendono neanche più). Ecco perché preferisce la dimensione concertistica. Nel calore del momento di un'esibizione live può estrarre dal mantice e dalla tastiera della sua "Victoria" quell'improvvisazione e quel fine tecnicismo che a volte proprio lo studio di registrazione comprime.
Quello realizzato al Théâtre du Châtelet di Parigi, proprio a due passi dalla Senna, è un concerto in cui l'artista sfida se stesso e la sua fisarmonica cromatica.
Amplia e restringe il mantice come se aprisse e chiudesse la sua anima ("Sertao," "Sheng"). Abbraccia i registri come se stringesse affettuosamente la sua donna ("Bagatelle," "New York Tango").
Il virtuosismo di Galliano non soffoca la sensibilità e l'espressività. Quando affronta alcune riscritture ("Gnossienne n. 1," "Gnossienne n. 2," di Erik Satie; "La Javanaise," di Serge Gainsbourg) è come se rendesse a questi classici una nuova luminosità.
Poi non dimentica gli echi italiani dello strumento. "Caruso" di Lucio Dalla, per sola mano destra, sembra interpretata con lo stesso trasporto col quale Toots Thielemans suona la sua armonica. Non è finita: il tributo al suo mentore, Astor Piazzolla, è a dir poco commovente ("Oblivion"), come la nebbiosa interpretazione di "'Round Midnight". L'Aria finale ci dà un assaggio di quello che sarà il già annunciato tributo al maestro di Eisenach: Johann Sebastian Bach.
