Hilario Duran: Motion
La scaletta - composta da tutti originali tranne "Danza Negra" di Ernesto Lecuona - si apre con "It's Only Seven," un brano che presenta elementi di ballabilità, tecnica pianistica incisiva e pronta a cambiare di colpo scenario in un contesto variopinto e mai incline ai cliché del genere. Colori compositivi sempre molto accesi che si mischiano a perfezione grazie anche al contributo ritmico di Mark Kelso, al quale si aggiungono le percussioni di Joaquin Hidalgo e Jimy Haddad, ospiti in un paio di episodi, tra i quali la splendida "Havana City," dove la presenza del Pandamonium Strings riesce ad avvolgere la grana stilistica del leader in un mantello di nostalgia e romanticismo.
Duran dispensa eleganza a piene mani anche nell'introduzione della successiva "For Emiliano," non tradisce mai il suo pensiero teso a elevare la melodia su linee di bellezza formale ("Tango Moruno") e anche quando a prevalere è un certa esposizione tecnica ("Motion") c'è sempre ben chiara un'idea di gruppo che trascina l'ascoltatore senza momenti di cedimento.
