Corrado Sgura: Mirage

Un locale notturno con musicisti jazz all'azione... un tema piuttosto battuto ed un luogo comune forse, che su questo disco del chitarrista Corrado Sgura trova una - positiva, beninteso - conferma. Perché è proprio di notte che certe atmosfere funzionano meglio, che brani come "Moonlight Waltz", in quartetto con il sassofonista italo-canadese Sal Rosselli o i due brani in trio "Yesterdays" e "How Insensitive" hanno modo di sviluppare il loro fascino. L`atmosfera ovattata che esprimono, il feeling composto e tuttavia intenso che colpisce anche gli ascoltatori più indifferenti, sono le qualità positive che Sgura ed i suoi collaboratori trasmettono.

Sal Rosselli si esprime con un suono abbastanza scuro, proveniente dalla scuola dei sassofonisti texani, molto efficace anche su brani come "Across the Funky" e si intende perfettamente con il leader, che nei suoi assoli ha modo di raccontare tante storie, vario nel modo di esprimersi, padrone delle armonie e capace di scavare all'interno delle esecuzioni dando una sensazione di perfetta padronanza della materia.

La ritmica fantasiosa e puntuale sostiene bene i due così che tutto il disco appare equilibrato e ben impostato come strutture, conciso nel dire tutto in meno di 35 minuti.
