Felice Reggio Big Band: Mio caro Tenco

A Tenco piaceva il jazz. Aveva studiato pianoforte, chitarra, sax e poi il clarinetto. Non appena quindicenne formò la Jelly Roll Morton Boys Jazz, con Bruno Lauzi al banjo. Amava Gershwin e Charlie Parker, questo sì. Ma non sarebbe un sacrilegio pensare che abbia amato alla follia Bill Evans (cambiando il cambiabile, ci sarebbero affinità tra i due musicisti) e che Kind of Blue di Miles Davis fosse uno dei suoi dischi preferiti.

Felice Reggio, trombettista prezioso, voleva incontrare la spiritualità musicale di Tenco e trasfonderla in strumentali jazzistici che potessero far emergere l'anima jazz del cantautore. C'è riuscito appieno, no doubt.

Lo spirito da big band stile Benny Goodman ("Averti fra le mie braccia"), gli echi blue mood ellingtoniani ("Ti ricorderai," "Tu non hai capito niente") o la West Coast alla Gerry Mulligan, Chet Baker, Paul Desmond ("Vedrai, Vedrai," "Mi sono innamorato di me," a loro modo suggestive e emozionanti versioni), ma anche gli arrangiamenti exotic style di "Ciao Amore, Ciao," sono le tracce di lettura del trombettista che lasciano un segno suggestivo.

Ecco perché questo non è il solito tributo. È qualcosa di più: è un'opera filologica, a tratti fenomenologica, che ha il pregio di consegnarci una felice intuizione sull'opera di uno dei più talentuosi e incompresi musicisti che la storia della musica italiana abbia avuto.

Diremo di più: l'inestimabile patrimonio musicale di Tenco viene rivissuto, con questo lavoro, sotto una luce diversa (non è la prima volta, of course) che Reggio riesce a vivacizzare con sensibilità ed equilibrio e un pizzico di comprensibile autocompiacimento ("Mai").
