A Tenco piaceva il jazz. Aveva studiato pianoforte, chitarra, sax e poi il clarinetto. Non appena quindicenne formò la Jelly Roll Morton Boys Jazz, con Bruno Lauzi al banjo. Amava Gershwin e Charlie Parker, questo sì.
