Alla guida di un trio compatto ed assortito, Barth firma un pregevole disco nel segno dello swing. Grazie anche alla dimensione live la musica qui proposta ben rappresenta la mutevole cifra stilistica del pianista statunitense, giunto al dodicesimo cd da leader. Tutto si sviluppa all'insegna della sorpresa e della discontinuità, nell'intento di dar forma a multiformi costruzioni musicale in ognuna dei nove brani in scaletta. Alla base vi è uno swing gioioso e robusto, arricchito da atmosfere sospese, free forms, aromi latini ed accenti dinamici.

Emerge un percorso trasversale dove l'eterogeneità dei materiali sonori adottati riflette a pieno il pensiero e gli interessi del leader, da trent'anni sulla scena jazzistica. È un trio che ha tutte le carte in regola per imporsi ancora più diffusamente oltre la scena statunitense nel panorama delle musiche improvvisate. Ne vien fuori un percorso incisivo e raffinato, rispettosamente ancorato alla tradizione. Lo illumina una invidiabile disinvoltura ritmica, che si aggiunge all'ispirata condotta strumentale di tutti e tre musicisti.
