Massimo Sorrentino Group: La notte dei tempi viventi
Riesce a tener fuori l’autoreferenzialità di certo jazzismo dottorale (leggi anche: tutto il resto jazz è noia), accoglie come un ospite gradito l’approccio melodico e lirico e costruisce un CD che per molti versi è una sorpresa.
Si parte con la fusione a caldo di “Pioggia di lacrime d’avorio” (riff di fiati e tanta solarità) per proseguire con il compiuto “entertainment” di “Serendipity” (melodismo e savoir faire elegante), attraversare la brillantezza dell’incedere di “Plonger en Normandie”, accarezzare l’arte del suo più riconoscibile mentore (“Phase Bagher”) o divertirsi con le commistioni funk di “Sweet Wave”.
Il chitarrista napoletano non poteva pretendere di più da questo CD che ha il coraggio di frustare i "morti viventi" del jazz nostrano per far spazio ai “tempi viventi” di certo jazz italico giovane e brillante.
