More often than not, after putting one of these playlists together, I'm left feeling so very lucky and privileged to be able to share these artists and their music. This one in particular is filled with some great stuff. Go have a listen to it. Slovenian saxophonist Jure Pukl & quartet take on AI with their new Analog AI and demonstrate that when it comes to improvisation, AI is the melted ice cream dripping down the side of the cone. Trumpeter Thomas Heberer & Remedy already have released one excellent album this year (Hipp Hipp Hooray) and less than a year later they follow with another brilliant work featuring avant-garde master pianist Aki Takase, Remedy Plus Aki Takase. Poet/vocalist/composer Maryanne de Prophetis does not release albums too often but when she does the result is exceptional, like the recent Come O Light. German drummer Maximilian Hering also takes his time on releasing new music, and his latest The Gathering features his band from Barcelona where he once lived. There are some remarkable duos to check out too: Peter Evans/Mike Pride, Kelsey Mines / Vinny Golia, and Italians Nicola Guazzaloca & Francesco Guerri. Charles Lloyd's bluesy Figure In Blue is terrific, as is English pianist Mark Pringle's New Customers where he's surrounded by some of Berlin's finest. You may be a customer after listening to it. So much more in this episode of One Man's Jazz. Aljoša Videtič took the photo of Jure Pukl.Playlist
