Album Description
Released on June 26, 2026, on Groove Note Records, Stay With Me marks jazz vocalist Douyé’s sixth album. The 13-track collection bridges timeless vocal jazz traditions with personal storytelling, highlighted by legendary pianist George Cables, who co-produced and arranged ten Great American Songbook standards alongside cinematic contributions from arranger Mina Choi.
The album is a milestone for Douyé as her first jazz project to incorporate original songwriting, featuring three self-penned tracks alongside revered standards like "Autumn in New York". Her expressive voice glides smoothly across the arrangements, honoring the classic aesthetic of vocal icons she grew up listening to in Lagos, Nigeria.
George Cables delivers a masterclass in accompaniment, offering subtle, deeply sensitive piano phrasing that elevates each track. Supported by an elite ensemble of horns and rhythm players, the collaboration yields a sophisticated, warm, and mature sonic landscape that honors jazz heritage while remaining fresh.
