About All About Jazz’s Coverage Request System
For publicists, record label representatives and artists
The All About Jazz Coverage Request & Tracking System connects publicists, record labels, musicians, venues, festivals and presenters directly with AAJ contributors interested in covering new releases, interviews and live performances.The system was created to simplify what was once a largely manual process. Rather than sending coverage requests to the All About Jazz publisher for distribution to the writing staff, you can submit opportunities directly to our contributors, communicate with writers who accept them and track your requests from one place.
All coverage requests are considered editorial opportunities. Submitting a request does not guarantee coverage.
Submit a Coverage Request
Album Review Requests
Before requesting an album review, add the album to the All About Jazz database or select it if it's already listed.Include as much information as possible, along with a YouTube video and/or Spotify playlist link so prospective reviewers can sample the music before deciding whether the album is a good fit.
When submitting your request, you can select up to five AAJ writers to contact directly. Each selected writer receives an email with links allowing them to accept or decline the request.
If you don't select individual writers, your request will remain available in the general coverage pool, where an eligible AAJ contributor can claim it.
If a writer accepts your request, you'll be notified and can communicate directly through the Coverage Request system. You'll then provide the music in the writer's preferred format—digital, CD or vinyl—and coordinate any additional details directly with them.
Accepted album reviews are generally completed within 30 days. You'll be notified when the review is published.
Managing Your Requests
You can submit new requests and track existing ones from your member page. Both options are available under the Coverage Requests tab in the Your All About Jazz section.A request that remains unclaimed has not been assigned for coverage. You do not need to contact the All About Jazz publisher for a status update; the status shown in the Coverage Request system is the current status of your request.
Contacting Radio & Podcast Hosts
The Coverage Request system is intended for written editorial coverage. Radio and podcast hosts can continue to be contacted directly using their preferred method.
