Glaucorius Quartet: J.F.P.
Questo CD autoprodotto è un omaggio evidentissimo all'eroe del basso elettrico Jaco Pastorius. Sue sono le iniziali puntate che danno il titolo all'album, sue sono le composizioni che i quattro musicisti italiani eseguono con notevole perizia tecnica e con grandissima passione. Brani molto noti che spesso Pastorius eseguiva con una band allargata che gli consentiva di mettere in campo mille sfumature e mille colori, bagnati dai ritmi del sole e dalle ombre della notte. Brani che hanno anche linee melodiche particolarmente suggestive, capaci di toccare il fondo dell'anima. Questa è la differenza fra genialità e semplice bravura nell'arte della composizione. In particolare "Three Views of a Secret" è un brano davvero magico, capace di fare scappare la mente in un altra dimensione.
Al centro del progetto è certamente la tuba del virtuoso Glauco Benedetti. Questo strumento bene sposa il progetto dei quattro musicisti italiani andando a sostituire con intelligenza, competenza e ironia lo spazio lasciato vuoto dall'assenza del basso elettrico. Una soluzione che aumenta la capacità evocativa del progetto. Bravi loro ad averlo capito ed applicato.
