Darrell Katz and OddSong: Jailhouse Doc With Holes In Her Socks
La musica di Oddsong è una sorta di camerismo free con i sassofoni che ricordano a tratti il Rova Saxophone Quartet: percorsi in buona parte scritti e non privi di fascino, nell'insolita interazione tra il violino, la marimba e le ance. L'astratto sperimentalismo di alcuni brani è alleviato da momenti melodicamente radiosi, esaltati dalle liriche interpretazioni della Shrimpton.
Il momento più originale tra i brani di quest'organico è la versione di "Libertango," orchestrata dalla violinista Helen Sherrah-Davies integrando la dimensione cameristica e operistica con un'enfasi jazzistica.
Altro brano particolarmente significativo è "The Red Blues/Red Blue" il citato brano orchestrale, posto in chiusura dell'album: una multiforme composizione di quasi 15 minuti dedicata a Julius Hemphill con un esaltante intervento di Oliver Lake.
