Rebecca Shrimpton
Rebecca's newest CD, REQUITED, (Fall 2007) premieres a series of ten exquisite songs composed by pianist Bert Seager, with lyrics by international best-selling novelist Anita Diamant (The Red Tent). REQUITED features a spectacular band, including Bert Seager, piano; Rick DiMuzio, tenor sax; Jorge Roeder, bass (Kenny Werner); and Richie Barshay, drums (Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Kenny Werner). Rebecca's duo CD with guitarist Eric Hofbauer, MADMAN'S MOON (2005 CNM Records), has garnered international praise and earned a four-star review from the All Music Guide, as well as placing on two Top Ten CDs of 2005 lists (Harvey Siders, Jazz Times Magazine and Randy McElligot, CHUO FM).
Rebecca has appeared with such jazz luminaries as Joe Lovano, Steve Lacy, George Russell, Ran Blake, and George Lewis, and is also vocalist for Boston's Jazz Composers Alliance Orchestra, with which she has recorded four CDs. Rebecca has gained a reputation as a composer's singer, premiering new works for both large and small ensembles. She also brings freshness to jazz standards and stretches out to explore such diverse sources as Ray Charles, David Allan Coe, Ned Rorem, and the folk tradition, as well as writing her own compositions, one of which debuted in Jordan Hall with legendary bassist Cecil McBee. She has CDs on Rounder, Cadence, Red Toucan, Innova, and CNM Records.

“Precise, flexible, and alluring, [Rebecca's] voice raptures, but she doesn't overplay the sensuality note. Shrimpton's sensuality is fully embedded in her vocal technique and in her mastery of the art of singing.” --François Couture, All Music Guide
Her voice "lingers in the memory, while her rich tones endow [the music] with a hefty significance." --Duncan Heining, Britain's Jazzwise Magazine
