Enten Eller - Javier Girotto: Ecuba

Ecuba è l'incontro tra due grandi realtà: Enten Eller e Javier Girotto. È l'intreccio di due storie che partono da lontano, ognuna con le proprie radici e il proprio senso artistico, ma che in comune hanno un elevato grado di espressività. Significati tradotti in musica, una musica lontana - a volte anche a distanza siderale - da quella consuetudine che infastidisce e che troppo spesso pietrifica il jazz di casa nostra.

Tredici i brani in programma in un'ora intensa. Tracce da dove emerge una parità di ruoli e intenti, dove ha il sopravvento la melodia ("Tutankamon"), o la solennità espressiva ("Denique Caelum"), oppure un sentimento vicino all'amore, nel suo significato più alto ("Cristina"). Ma dalle quali esce prepotente la voglia di allargare gli orizzonti, di andare a cercare territori nuovi, rischiando di perdersi e senza badare troppo alle conseguenze. Di questo ne è testimonianza la "Suite for Jukaghiri," divisa in cinque movimenti, dove sia la band che Girotto si esprimono senza inibizioni, in uno scambio continuo di colori e frammenti che formano un flusso continuo di emozioni che ti stringono al collo.

Da dietro le quinte Massimo Barbiero muove gli ingranaggi ritmici di Enten Eller con consueta intelligenza; Brunod, in primo piano, si lascia apprezzare per la sua vena elettrica; ai fianchi, l'archetto di Maier si traduce in brividi mentre Mandarini e Girotto si attardano in dialoghi infiniti. La somma di questi elementi fa di Ecuba un disco di imprendibile bellezza. In senso assoluto.
