Di rimpetto agisce ovviamente la tromba, sempre impagabile, specie allorché imbavagliata dalla sordina, di Wadada, il che non è dettaglio di poco conto.
Molti grideranno—o avranno già gridato—al miracolo, e questo album, in effetti, un miracolo lo è anche, di sobrietà, misura, canto ambrato (e magari ombroso), ma a noi tutto ciò lascia (suggerisce) un nonsoché di inespresso, di eccessivamente trattenuto, come se molto di più si sarebbe potuto dire (la statura dei due musicisti, specie dell'ormai ottantaquattrenne trombettista chicagoano, lo giustificherebbe in pieno) e non sia invece stato detto.
Per ritegno, pudore, ritrosia? Chi può dirlo. Resta il fatto che, comunque sia, di musica degnissima ce n'è, a pizzichi e bocconi. Sarà quella che, per questa volta, dovrà bastarci.
