Dave Specter è un chitarrista non più giovanissimo ma certamente appartenente alla generazione più recente dei musicisti emersi sulla scena della città che più ha legato il suo nome al blues elettrico del dopoguerra.
Il 20 e il 21 agosto del 2007 ha dato due concerti (il primo al Rosa's Blues Lounge, il secondo al Buddy Guy's) e la Delmark, etichetta storica di Chicago, ha ben pensato di documentare il tutto con adeguate riprese audio e video.
Questo DVD presenta il meglio di quelle due ottime serate, con il prezioso contributo di tre ospiti importanti come il cantante/armonicista Tad Robinson, il cantante/chitarrista Jimmy Johnson e la cantante Sharon Lewis. Il gruppo di Specter è un quartetto che oltre alla chitarra del leader vede presenti sul palco il tastierista Brother John Kattke, il bassista Harlan Terson e il batterista Marty Binder.
Un ottimo gruppo per una energica escursione nel blues elettrico, piena di calore, di passione, di sudore e di idee. Il virtuosismo non è una caratteristica che questi musicisti vogliono mettere particolarmente in luce. Fortunatamente sono molto più interessati a raccontarci la loro storia, piuttosto che a stupirci con gli effetti speciali. Rispettando in pieno lo spirito del blues.
