Lucas Niggli Zoom Meets Arte Quartett: Crash Cruise
Lucas Niggli è uno dei rari batteristi che si cimenta anche con la composizione, e lo fa con piglio deciso, sicuro e creativo. Varietà ritmica, certo, ma anche eleganti contrappunti, momenti di delicato lirismo, complessità strutturale e, perchè no?, improvvisazione radicale.
Del resto l'organico, risultante dall'incontro del trio Zoom di Niggli con il quartetto di sax Arte, mette a disposizione del leader una paletta sonora ampia e flessibile, di cui fa ottimo uso.
Un disco intenso e maturo, lontano dagli stilemi consueti del jazz, carico di groove asimmetrici (e qui riscontriamo una certa affinità con il curatore delle note di copertina). Una proposta inconsueta ed interessante, di concezione schiettamente europea.
