Arturo Sandoval, Bill Evans, Bobby Watson & More

Click the play button to listen

With a rising star in the world of jazz, we begin episode 596. Miami-based 13-year old piano prodigy Brandon Goldberg does the honors with a cut from his debut CD Let's Play. From there, we probe into his influences with some cuts from Herbie Hancock and Bill Evans. We look into the world and magic of Arturo Sandoval on the heels of his tour swing through Kansas City in April of 2019. Then, we look at the very busy Kansas City bassist Ben Leifer, his mentor Bobby Watson and Michael Brecker. As we get into the stretch run to close out the music, we hear Jessica Jones, Michael Davidson, Dan Fortin and Chet Baker. Then, the proverbial lights come down with the majestic sound of Betty Carter live off her 2019 CD The Music Never Stops.
