Ropa 11: Amazing Stories

Questo Amazing Stories vede il gruppo torinese Ropa 11 giungere alla terza prova discografica, dopo Infrangibile del 2006 e Mark III del 2008. Il bel Revox vintage che campeggia in copertina ci riporta inevitabilmente agli anni settanta e quello è il mondo che i Ropa 11 vogliono frequentare e approfondire, senza negarsi spruzzate di contemporaneità, specialmente nell'uso della voce di Chiara Onida e negli arrangiamenti delle sezioni più vicine al pop.

Ce lo conferma la musica con la trilogia iniziale che mischia due brani originali attorcigliati a sandwich con una cover di Frank Zappa per poi proseguire con una improbabile versione light di "My Favorite Things" e altre composizioni originali fra le quali fa capolino una dilatata e impalpabile "Riders on the Storm" degli epici Doors. Il tutto scorre via fra climi rock e interferenze jazzistiche, senza mai dare la sensazione di raggiungere un punto di equilibrio 'centrale' al progetto.

La tromba di Ale Muner sta al centro degli arrangiamenti e attorno a lei ruotano le due chitarre, con il sostegno di una ritmica bella tosta che riporta ad oggi il discorso. Lo straniamento temporale è assicurato ma non è ben chiaro se questo era l'effetto complessivo che il gruppo voleva raggiungere.
