Gianni Insalata 4tet: Work in Progress
Questi due elementi traducono in maniera ideale la morbidezza di scrittura dei dieci originali in programma, metà dei quali a sola firma del leader. Le melodie rassicuranti e gli scenari rilassati costituiscono il nocciolo stilistico del lavoro. Insalata non invade quasi mai i primi piani, favorendo il suono d'insieme che accompagna l'ascoltatore attraverso passaggi sempre discreti e curve espressive lineari. Il quartetto fa leva su una consolidata conoscenza reciproca e la musica prodotta ne beneficia sia quando i movimenti sono pensati e portati avanti in maniera convenzionale, come nella conclusiva "Alborada," che quando affiora qualche increspatura, come nella nervosa "Drilling Industry," breve episodio che si stacca dal resto dell'insieme per approccio e intenzione.
