Rosanna Fedele: What Is It For?
What Is It For? è il classico jazz album curato sotto ogni aspetto, votato alla bellezza esecutiva e dal preciso innesco timbrico/armonico. La Fedele, accompagnata da un trio ordinato nel quale si distingue il pianismo raffinato di Riccardo Biseo, si destreggia egregiamente attraverso un repertorio fatto di un unico brano autografo (la title track), di un pugno di standard jazzistici e rivisitazioni pop.
Da sottolineare i passaggi dal notevole impatto emozionale, come il medley di "My Favourite Things"/"Someday My Prince Will Come," la pulizia stilistica di ogni brano proposto e la presenza timbrica della leader, capace di conferire - su tempi essenzialmente slow - l'atmosfera notturna e la vellutata sensazione di eleganza tipica delle occasioni di gala. Fa eccezione la sola "With Every Breath I Take," giocata con modalità leggermente più decise.
