At Mike's suggestion, episode 167 is all about one extraordinary jazz vocalist—the divine Sarah Vaughan. Sarah is probably the least known of the great three female jazz vocalists (the others being Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald), and part of the problem may be a sprawling catalog of releases on various labels that sometimes suffered in quality control in terms of song selection or production. The boys try to pick a few gems to consider and then wind up with a Pop Matters discussions of Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, the Velvet Underground, and Talking Heads (so, yeah, the "great vocalist" focus of the show wanders a bit towards the end).Playlist
