Jean-Michel Pilc: True Story
Il pianista francese Jean Michel Pilc calibra carezze e colpi bassi con un equilibrio e un lirismo da far impallidire i suoi più blasonati colleghi. Il tema di Franz Schubert ("Relic") viene esaltato nel suo afflato romantico e poi amplificato in un mare calmo di dissonanze.
Ancora una volta il pianista dette le mosse da fermo, imperturbabile, ma sempre presente. Non ha bisogno di virtuosismi. Gli bastano poche note perché lavora sulle dinamiche che si fanno spesso sommesse ("A Brief History of Time"), ma anche irrequiete e turbinose ("PBH Factor"). Il russo Boris Kozlov riempie gli spazi timbrici con interventi al basso anche dal sapore avanguardistico (spesso si aiuta con l'archetto).
Pilc spesso gira intorno al tema con un piglio divertito, ma mai irriverente ("High Sky - The Elegant Universe"). Emoziona con un lirismo assoluto e raffinato. Si erge ad un metro da terra dalle comuni interpretazioni ("My Heart Belongs to Daddy," "Try to Remember") con sicurezza stilistica e tecnica.
Le cinque scene finali della suite "True Story" sono la firma inconfondibile di un musicista che spinge con questo lavoro la discrezione verso il potere assoluto nella musica.
