Michael Moore - Fred Hersch: This We Know
Un incontro tra vecchi amici, insomma, che non hanno bisogno di (auto)celebrarsi e che quindi hanno scelto un tono sommesso, fatto più di accenni che di disvelamenti. Ampio spazio a profumi latini, una spruzzata di Monk, composizioni originali di entrambi. Il jazz come linguaggio di riferimento, da cui uscire con discrezione. Moore e Hersch sono musicisti di razza, e qualche licenza espressiva se la concedono. Ma senza esagerazioni, rientrando presto nell'alveo del jazz. A tratti si ha l'impressione che, con l'ausilio di una sezione ritmica, i brani potrebbero anche decollare verso lidi più grintosi. Ma i musicisti preferiscono lasciarli sospesi a mezz'aria.
Un album molto intimo, quasi privato.
