The Vortex Sessions documenta un progetto che rappresenta la società globalizzata del terzo millennio, volto a citare ed inglobare ma manca di una anima e di una identità ben definite. Le sue sonorità si uniformano a certo pianismo nordeuropeo, che ha il suo punto di forza nella purezza del suono grazie ad un eloquio disteso ed essenziale. Peccato che la verace curiosità musicale non abbia trovato piena attuazione in una ricerca autonoma.
Il CD scorre tutto sommato piacevolmente senza lasciarsi alle spalle grandi idee o guizzi particolarmente felici. Era comunque difficile, se non impossibile, sintetizzare in maniera personale gli echi evansiani con il mondo timbrico del berimbau.
