Meet Kaat DuJour: Worked as lead vocalist for Snap!, featuring Turbo B. (who is now working on his independent releases/album).

Instrument(s): Vocals, drums, tambourine....the piano (but I don't remember how to play...lol).

Teachers and/or influences? Lena Horne, Natalie Cole, Jennifer Holiday, Lauryn Hill, Nina Simone, Sarah Vaughan, Nat King Cole, the Nicholas Brothers, Loleatta Holloway, Chrisette Michelle, Yolanda Adams, Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Tony Bennett, The Rat Pack, Liza Minnelli, The Roots, Jill Scott, Floetry, Erykah Badu, Common, Talib Kwali, Missy Elliott, Prince, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Shirley Ceasor, John P. Keyee, my grandmother, musical family.

I knew I wanted to be a musician when... I was three years old singing songs everyday all day. So many people would request to hear me sing. I felt it in my heart that this was part of my calling. Also my grandmother told me that one day I will inspire and touch many with my gift and be televised to reach the masses.

Your sound and approach to music: My sound is very unique and I've been compared to the old greats and the presently established artists, yet I maintain my own identity. Music is a message of life, telling stories and being able to touch someone through my delivery of lyrics.

Your teaching approach: In order to be a great teacher, you must be a good student as well. You can learn so much from others about life and yourself.

It is always nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice.

Your dream band: Live music band....have the sensation of Earth Wind & Fire mixed with the Roots....

Favorite venue: Australia (Sydney) Germany New York

Your favorite recording in your discography and why? It varies, right now it is How Much In Love. It is how I want to feel everyday about the love of my life...even when I'm upset, I know that this is the way he will make me feel.

What do you think is the most important thing you are contributing musically? Being able to testify or tell situations either I've experienced myself or I've witnessed.

Did you know... I had a chance to train and be a professional track and field athlete.

CDs you are listening to now: Chrisette Michelle-Def Jam Amy Whinehouse- Mos Def-

Desert Island picks: Natalie Cole Jennifer Holiday Sarah Vaughan Sade Nina Simone

What is in the near future? Every Tuesday night at Club Edens in Charlotte, NC ...Jack Daniels Presents. Feb 23, 2008 Comedy Show, featured musical act.

By Day: Businesswoman.
