The extrovert pianism of Stefano Bollani and Benito Gonzalez opens this show, which then dives into recent Nordic and Eastern European jazz (Fredrik Nordström, Julia Karosi, JAF Trio), embraces the compelling melodicism of Roberto Spadoni, Chris Pattishall, Stefano Coppari, Wayne Horvitz and Sara Schoenbeck, explores the music of two adventurous Canadians (Lina Allemano and Francois Houle), ...

Every generation has a number of defining musicians who stand out for their innovations and distinctive voices. His instrumental style is certainly unique and has shaped the way the following generations have ...

Read "Hedvig Mollestad, Wayne Horvitz, Anne Pacéo, Chris Potter & Other New Releases" reviewed by Ludovico Granvassu

This week we put together an energy-packed playlist to boost us towards the finish line of the winter season. At the heart of the show is electric jazz, from a rather guitar-centric set of albums. They oscillate between the shredding power of Hedvig Mollestad or Marbin, and the legacy of the New York Downtown scene that ...

A Night at the Jazz Circus! - Part 1

Read "A Night at the Jazz Circus! - Part 1" reviewed by Ludovico Granvassu

Circus is like Jazz. They both require a great deal of originality and a capacity to improvise and be in the moment. They come out of a sense of urgency and self-expression since artists do not embrace them to get rich. And they both demand incredible dedication and discipline. This week we explore the ...

King Khan: The Infinite Ones

Read "The Infinite Ones" reviewed by Chris May

Something about the vibe of this completely wonderful album, and the milieu which its record label inhabits, puts one in mind of Beat poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti's self-published limited-editions of the 1960s. These were, according to information given on page three, “Printed, published, freaked out, & zapped by the Fuck You/ press at a secret grope-bunker somewhere ...

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
