Vera Hall

Born: 1902

Vera Hall - Blues and Spirtuals Singer (1902 - 1964) Born in 1902 in Payneville, Alabama, just outside of Livingston in Sumter County, Vera Hall grew up to establish one of the most stunning bodies of American folk music on record. Hall married Nash Riddle, a coal miner, in 1917 and gave birth to their daughter, Minnie Ada. Riddle was killed in 1920. Though Hall sang her entire life, learning spirituals such as “I Got the Home in the Rock” and “When I’m Standing Wondering, Lord, Show Me the Way” from her mother, Agnes, and her father, Efron “Zully” Hall, it was not until the late 1930s that Hall’s singing gained national exposure. John Avery Lomax, ethnomusicologist, met Hall in the 1930s and recorded her for the Library of Congress

Andrea Celeste

Born: August 31, 1986

Andrea Celeste was born in Pontedera on the 31st of August 1986. When only 11 years old she started giving her first public performances and took up the study of classical singing and piano under the guidance of M. Vittorio Scali. Her talent did not pass unnoticed and she was invited, while still an adolescent, to share the stage with some of the most important national and international Gospel projects and singers such as the St. Jacob’s Gospel Choir directed by M. Massimo Bracci, the Joyful Angels directed by M. Vijay Pierallini, and the American singer Cheryl Porter. In 2002 Andrea won a scholarship for the International Gospel Seminar in Castelbrando where she shared the stage with Mario Biondi and Cheryl Porter. A tireless professional, Andrea Celeste pursued her studies to improve her vocal technique and attended numerous workshops with Maestros such as: Terron Brooks, Ashley Davis, Huntley Brown, Michael and Regina Winans

Vance Adair

Vance Adair has been singing since the age of 12. A career in higher education meant that he put aside his musical ambitions for some time. However, he returned to the scene 4 years ago and has enjoyed gigs and residencies throughout Scotland ever since. In 2004 the Glasgow Herald stated that Vance "has one of the classiest voices in the business: unlike many of the other pseudo-crooners on the Scottish scene at the moment, Vance is the real deal. A joy." Vance performs regularly with his musical partner, acclaimed veteran jazz pianist Ronnie Findlay, who provides the accompaniment on some of these tunes

Dorothy Doring

A Minnesota native, Dorothy Doring was already singing on stage at age four and appearing on local radio at age 9. Formal voice training began when she was 12 and by 13 she was singing rock ‘n roll with a local band. After high school, Doring obtained a bachelor’s degree in vocal music at Moorhead State University, performing in opera recitals as well as area venues as a folk/pop singer. Moving to the Twin Cities after completing her B.A. degree, Doring began her career as a full-time musician, taking time along the way to earn an M.A. in Education. Mariette Bodier Moss

At the tender age of sixteen Mariette Bodier already performed with a rock and roll band in Deventer where she spent her childhood. In Amsterdam she studied voice, presentation and performance with the renown vocal coach BEP OGTEROB. She furthermore was enrolled in the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam for two years after which she left Holland to work as a singer in Inter-Continental and Hilton Hotels in a.o. Amsterdam, Paris, Istanbul, Kabul and Tehran. Kitty Wu is a Jazz singer who has won many vocalist awards in her home country including the “Sing In English” competition in 2002 and 1st place in the “Beautiful Action” competition in 2003.
